About

My first job was bussing tables at Western Sizzlin’.

It was the beginning of an era.

During my teens and 20s, I worked in many different kinds of restaurants, from holes in the wall to fine dining establishments, and a few tourist traps in between. I’ve worked damn near every position in the front-of-house and most of the back-of-house, too: host, server, bartender, catering, fry cook, sauteé, grill, prep, dishwasher—I’ve always enjoyed mixing it up and learning about every part of a restaurant’s operation.

After I graduated from journalism school at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, I became a travel and food writer and built a career that allowed me to travel all over the world and write about it. Though I’ve always loved food and come from a long line of farmers, it was through writing that I fell in love with culinary traditions.

Over the years I’ve transitioned from writing for consumer magazines to writing for B2B audiences. Now, I help restaurant concepts and technology brands secure their positions as thought leaders in their fields and create content that differentiates them from competitors.

That’s my superpower.

As The Restaurant Technology Writer, I bring practical experience to the table. I have 15 years working in kitchens and dining rooms under my belt, a strong farming background, and the writing skills, self-discipline, and training of a seasoned journalist.

I’m not just an experienced and dependable writer, I’m a subject matter expert. I “get” it because I’ve been there. I understand the challenges that both managers and hourly workers in the restaurant industry face. Only now, I have immensely deeper insight into what is being done to address these challenges because I’ve interviewed and picked the brains of hundreds of chefs, industry bigwigs, and sources over the years.

Let me help you tell stories that benefit and connect you to your ideal customers—inspiring them to explore the possibilities that foodservice technology brings. Need case studies, white papers, a quality blog, or other content marketing deliverables? Let’s chat.
